WARNER BROS PASSES ON THE DARK TOWER FILM
A few weeks ago we reported that the fate of the Dark Tower film adaptation would be decided soon. Ron Howard has been trying to get the franchise up and running for years, but continually keeps hitting road blocks. Well, this one might just be a brick wall.
After reading the latest draft of the script, Warner Bros has decided to pass on The Dark Tower, not picking it up for production. Chances are they saw the series as too much of a risky endeavor, considering it wouldn’t just be one film they commit to, but three films and two TV mini-series.
Another studio can pick up The Dark Tower, but they’d have to have much more faith than Warner Bros did that the receipts would make the project worth it.
Sorry Dark Tower fans, looks like Roland Deschain will have to remain a literary character for the time being. Maybe in time, he’ll get the chance to engage us on the big screen.

Who would you like to see in the role?

CHILDE ROLAND TO THE DARK TOWER CAME: THE FUTURE OF THE DARK TOWER MOVIE TO BE DECIDED SOON
Ron Howard has been trying to bring Stephen King’s epic The Dark Tower to life for a few years now, but the project keeps hitting road blocks. But after being dropped by Universal, Warner Bros picked up the rights and now they are awaiting a new draft of the screenplay.
Reports claim that within the next two weeks, WB will decide whether or not to move forward with a Dark Tower film. Also an interesting note is that Javier Bardem is no longer the favorite to play The Last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain. Apparently, Howard and producer Brian Grazer are in talks with Russell Crowe (a much better choice, in my opinon) for the role.
Since The Dark Tower series is now 8 books long, one movie won’t suffice. The current plan is to have a trilogy of films, plus two TV miniseries.
So Stephen King fans, what do you think about all this news? Do you want a Dark Tower film series? Is Crowe a good choice or would someone else be better suited? Let us know in our Ask box.
